Our History

John Puro started Puro's Coins & Jewelry as a part-time "side hustle" in 1980 in Georgia, VT. Having five kids and a stay-at-home wife, "Big John" had to find ways to supplement his income with side jobs. He would buy coins and bullion out of his small general store, and then sell them to the bigger dealers around the country.

John contacted his son in 1997, and asked for assistance selling items on a new website called "eBay." Tim had graduated the University of Vermont in 1991, and had just returned to Vermont from a successful advertising career in New York City. Since then, the Puro's have sold over 30,000 items on eBay. Tim enjoyed the entrepreneurialism of selling items online, and started one of the first e-commerce coin sites in 1998. He has been a full time coin dealer since then.
